🔍 We’ve placed most focus on the ESG policy and Code of Conduct, as we believe these two are the minimum that any early-stage startup should have in place:

🤓 If you want to go further in your policy making, we’ve also included guidance on:

• Parental leave policy
• Additional detailed policies about your company culture, beyond Code of Conduct, which you can also publish externally
• Additional detailed policies about your climate impact, beyond an ESG policy, which you can also publish externally

Remember that:

⏰ Your policies and codes should be living documents that can and should grow with you. Aim to set a regular time to update them, say annually.

✍️ The act of writing each policy is an important process for collectively agreeing and defining who you want to be in each space.

💡There is plenty of value in understanding what others have done before you and asking yourselves: “Does this approach make sense for us? What would we do differently?”.

©️ It’s likely that you’ll take inspiration and borrow the best parts of other companies’ policies. That’s absolutely fine (and why we’ve compiled examples for reference!), so long as you give credit to an eventual source and ensure that the policies are the right fit for you.
